Changes have been made to the generation of Authorization Codes and a new version of CiUSafe is required to be able to program your hardware key.

This is product version independent and all customers wishing to program their hardware keys must download and use the new version of CiUSafe. A description on how to install the new version of CiUSafe is available in the downloadable ZIP file.

If you have Citect software installed

Search for CiUSafe.exe on your PC.

Replace that with the CiUSafe.exe from this zip file (as a precaution you can copy the old file to old-CiUSafe.exe).

Search for USafe32.dll on your PC (should be in the same directory as CiUSafe.exe).

Replace that with the CiUSafe.exe from this zip file (as a precaution you can copy the old file to old-CiUSafe.exe).

If you do NOT have Citect software installed

Make a new directory anywhere you feel is appropriate (eg : C:\CiUSafe).

Copy the files in this zip into that directory.

Using CiUSafe

Run CiUSafe.exe (see CiUSafe.pdf for more information).

Download the latest version of CiUsafe.ZIP (473Kb)

Download the new sentinal drivers (9.48Mb)

Web Client running on Windows 2000 SP4”

The Web Client could no longer work on Win2k SP4 with some machines – coming up with a “Failed to Download the Cab File” error.

On other Win2k SP4 machines, it is working fine – the cab file downloaded and the web client ran as expected.

The difference?  It seems at some point, MS issued an IE hotfix that broke the Web Client and then issued further hotfixes that fixed it again.

So, if your machine is running without the latest Windows updates, you may have this problem.

It is obviously impossible for Citect to tell exactly when the breaking hotfix was released.

If you run the latest Windows updates, the problem will disappear and the Web Client should start without problems.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 upgrades the existing MDAC to MDAC 2.8 as part of the installation. In this version various changes have been made to the Microsoft Jet engine when going through the Borland Database Engine (BDE) which can cause issues when multiple applications are using ODBC to get access to dBase files. This affects both Citect Computer Setup and Communications Express Wizards and the Cicode Editor

Microsoft recommends that ISAM, Indexed Sequential Access Method, be used instead of the BDE. This can be achieved via a registry setting forcing all Jet access via ODBC to occur via ISAM as opposed to BDE. The following is the registry entry required.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Xbase]

"BDE"=dword:00000002

How to install this update:

Download the DBF_FIX.REG and then execute this file by either double clicking the file or by browsing to the DBF_FIX.REG from the Start button / Run... and then clicking OK.
